How to Measure Your Hand for a Jade Bangle

A practical, repeatable method for choosing an inner diameter that slides over the knuckles and feels comfortable in daily wear.

How to Measure Your Hand for a Jade Bangle

A bangle should pass over the widest part of your hand without force, then sit securely at the wrist. Measuring that widest point is more reliable than choosing from wrist circumference alone.

What you need

Use a flexible tape measure or a strip of paper, a ruler, and a pen. Measure at the end of the day when your hands are at their normal size.

  • Keep your fingers together and tuck the thumb across the palm.
  • Wrap the tape around the widest part of the hand, usually across the knuckles and thumb joint.
  • If using paper, mark the overlap and measure the strip flat in millimetres.

Turn the measurement into an inner diameter

The inner diameter is the straight distance across the inside of the bangle. As a starting point, divide your hand circumference by 3.14, then compare that result with the nearest available size. For example, 170 mm divided by 3.14 is about 54.1 mm. That number is only a starting point: a prominent knuckle can need 1-3 mm more clearance, while a slim hand may prefer a closer fit.

  • A 165-170 mm hand circumference often suits an inner diameter around 52-54 mm.
  • A 175-180 mm circumference often suits around 55-57 mm.
  • A 185-190 mm circumference often suits around 58-60 mm.
  • Measure twice; a 1 mm difference is noticeable on a small bangle.

Choose the fit you actually prefer

A snug fit moves less and gives a traditional close-to-the-skin feel. A comfort fit leaves a little movement between the bangle and wrist. If your knuckles are prominent, size for the hand rather than the wrist and choose a rounded inner edge.

  • Do not force a bangle over the hand; pressure can chip jade.
  • When between sizes, ask for the exact inner diameter and a photo beside a ruler.
  • Tell us whether you prefer a close, comfort, or looser fit before requesting a quotation.

Before you order

Ask the seller to confirm the measured inner diameter, width, thickness, and edge profile of the exact piece. Natural stone is not perfectly uniform, so the stated size should refer to the actual bangle rather than a catalogue range.

For a personal recommendation, send your hand circumference, the widest hand measurement, and a photo of your hand next to a ruler.
